QUARTER HORSES

Our goal is to breed horses with the build, brains, and heart for a lifetime of dependable ranch work.

The Story Behind Our Horses...

Brewster Ranch is dedicated to producing reliable, versatile, and hard-using ranch horses that are bred to last. Our foundation is built on proven genetics, thoughtful crosses, and a deep respect for the legacy of the horses and people who came before us. We are proud to carry forward the bloodlines and philosophies that shaped the horses of YT Quarter Horses, long known for producing some of the soundest, most good-minded ranch horses in the West.

The roots of our program trace back to Kate Brewster’s time working alongside Jalene and Steve Sorenson at YT Quarter Horses in Gillette, Wyoming. Known for their “built-like-a-tank” conformation and unbeatable temperament, the Sorenson horses were bred for the kind of work that doesn’t quit. Their stallion “Monkey,” who sired the core of our broodmare band, was a standout — a kind, gentle soul whose foals halter broke easy, learned fast, and worked hard. Even after running on the rugged range, they came in with try, brains, and the ability to connect with their people.

Following Steve’s passing, Jalene Sorenson chose to downsize, and in a gesture of profound generosity, offered Kate the opportunity to acquire a handful of her best mares. More than a transaction, this was a passing of the torch — and the beginning of the Brewster Ranch breeding program. We carry these bloodlines with pride and a promise: to honor the Sorenson legacy while shaping our own through the next generation of ranch horses.

At Brewster Ranch, we believe a good ranch horse should be more than just capable — they should be a partner. Our mares are selected not only for structure and pedigree but for the temperament and trainability that set a horse apart on branding day, sorting in the pens, or heading down the trail with a kid aboard. These horses are bred to hold up in big country, to meet the day’s work with heart, and to come back to the gate the same way they left — willing.

Whether doctoring cattle, teaching a young rider the ropes, or being the steady mount someone needs to get a job done, we aim to produce horses that are dependable, athletic, and true. We don’t breed for fads or hype — we breed for the kind of horses you’ll keep forever.
